Ms. Jennifer Theilacker, a native of Lancaster County, has been actively teaching and performing in the area for nearly a decade.  Jennifer is currently teaching Middle School Band at the Tatnall School in Wilmington, DE.  Prior to that she taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grade band students in the Lampeter-Strasburg School District, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania for eight years.  Jennifer also served as a middle school vocal music instructor for one year at L-S, directing choruses in grades 6-8.  She also serves as the assistant director of the Lampeter-Strasburg Community Band and is excited to be the current conductor of the Lancaster County Youth Wind Ensemble.  In 2008, Ms. Theilacker was invited to be guest conductor of the Queens JHS Borough Wide Band’s 50th anniversary concert in New York City.  She has been involved with many music-related organizations including: American Music Abroad (conducted symphonic band in Germany, Venice, Austria, & Hungary), Vivace Productions/Band Leadership Training at West Chester University, Southern End Summer Band, Children’s Choir of Lancaster and The New Holland Community Band.  Jennifer is also very active in the marching band field, with over fifteen years of experience.

Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Millersville University, where she was the president of the symphonic band and wind ensemble and president of the college’s chapter of MENC (Music Educator’s National Conference).  Jennifer has received a Masters Equivalency certificate for completing graduate work at the following institutions: Hofstra University, West Chester University, Millersville University and The University of the Arts.  This past summer she began working on a Masters Degree in Wind Conducting at the American Band College at Southern Oregon University.  There, Jennifer had the opportunity to play under composer, Jan Van der Roost, and conductors, Anthony Maeillo, Michael Bankhead, & Lowell Graham.

Ms. Theilacker studies clarinet with Janine Thomas, and conducting with Dr. Peter Loel Boonshaft and Dr. Brian Norcross. Her professional affiliations include: The National Band Association, Women Band Directors International (Eastern US Representative & PA state representative), Music Educator’s National Conference, Pennsylvania Music Educator’s Association(middle school Curriculum/instruction representative), Lancaster-Lebanon Music Educator’s Association, and the Musical Arts Society of Lancaster.

Ms. Theilacker was invited to conduct the LLMEA Middle School Youth Band Festival in the Spring of 2009.  She also just commissioned her first piece this past school year with famous composer, Michael Story.

Ms. Theilacker’s other interests include her work with Hospice of Lancaster County‘s Coping Kids series, a program that offers support services to children.
