Scholarship Audition Information

Please note: We will not be giving Scholarships
to Lancaster County Music Camp this year;
we will be taking 2008 to rebuild our scholarship
fund. Thank you for your patience, and we
apologize for any inconvenience.
The Musical Art Society will be offering
the following scholarships:
A. Scholarships to the Lancaster County Music
Camp at Elizabethtown College;
B. One C. Margaretta McHose Memorial scholarship
in the amount of $275, to a music camp pof
the applicant's choice;
C. One scholarship in honor of Robert E.
and Ruth C. Humphreville in the amount of
$500 to a music camp of the applicant's choice;
D. One Clark Foundation scholarship in the
amount of $500, to a brass player, to a music
camp of the applicant's choice.
Deadline for submitting the application is
April 23, 2007. No applications will be accepted
after that date. This had been done in the
past, and causes problems with scheduling.

The Lancaster County Music Camp will be held
at Elizabethtown College, July 15-21, 2007.
RULES GOVERNING THE AUDITIONS
1. Applicants for the Lancaster County Music
Camp must have completed seventh grade and
must be in at minimum the seventh grade at
the time of the auditions;
2. Applicants for the McHose and the Humphreville
scholarships must be a junior or a senior
in high school, currently, and may or may
not be a member of the Lancaster County Junior
Orchestra, the Lancaster County Youth Symphony,
or the Workshop for Young Performing Artists.
The applicant for the Clark Foundation scholarship
may be in grades 7 through 12.
3. Former scholarship winners may apply again,
but first consideration will be givento applicants
who have not previously won a scholarship
from the Musical Art Society.
4.. Students will be rated on the following
criteria:
a. Musical
talent
b. How well
the applicant is prepared with his/her chosen
piece
c. Future plans
in music
d. Financial
need
5. If applicants for the McHose or the Humphreville
scholarships do not belong to the above mentioned
organizations, a written recommendation from
the applicant's private music teacher or
a school music teacher is required.
6. Each applicant is expected to perform
in his/her special field of music before
a panel of Musical Art Society members, and
professional musicians and teachers. The
auditions will include the following:
a. One number
of the applicant's choice (need not be memorized);
b. One number
provided by the judges to be sight read;
c. Scales selected
from a list available here.
