Lancaster County Youth Symphony
Membership and Guidelines

ATTENDANCE: The LCYSO operates on the basis of having dedicated and highly motivated membership. Because the orchestra is committed to excellence, each member must contribute his/her best. An important part of your experience in the LCYSO will be the satisfaction of creating great music and worthy musical experiences through the combined efforts of all the members.

The very nature of the participation in a performing group means:

1. Attendance at all rehearsals and concerts
2. Adequate preparation during the week
3. Cooperation in the group effort to achieve superior musical results.

All absences will be recorded and it is your responsibility to provide the rehearsal manager with the necessary information in writing, in advance. In case of illness, or an emergency, notification may be made by phone. Unexcused absences will not be tolerated. Any absence not reported to the rehearsal manager will be considered unexcused. After your third absence of any kind (in the Youth Symphony) or the second absence (in the Junior Orchestra), the conductor will review your status with the orchestra and determine what action will be taken. Such action could include: loss of your chair, eligibility to play in the next concert, or possible dismissal from the orchestra.

NOTE: Please DO NOT email the website with any absence or lateness. You must contact Mr. Leithmann directly by telephone (717) 859-2268.
